Overview

Tosokchon has been serving samgyetang — whole young chicken stuffed with glutinous rice, ginseng, jujubes and garlic, simmered for hours — since 1983. The queue outside is a Seoul landmark in itself.

This is the definitive samgyetang experience. The broth is rich and restorative, the chicken falls apart at the touch of chopsticks, and eating it near the palace feels like a proper Seoul ritual.
